President’s Message:
Aloha Everyone,
We are well into the New Year and lots of work in store for us.  One of the trustee's had to resign for personal reasons and we now have a seat vacant.  Please see me if you can help us out and fill that seat.  Remember, we on the board support each other so, I reassure you it will not be difficult.  Elections is also around the corner and looking for new people with new idea's to help us out.  The current board is willing to mentor anyone that is willing to give one day a month to meet and help our Society grow.  I know we have many talented and hard working members.  See Lorenzo Ordinado if you are willing to run for office.  He will let you know that it actually can be a fun thing.

Orchid Workshop

2012 Windward Orchid Show
Our WOS Spring show “Go Green With Orchids” is scheduled for March 16th - 18th at King Intermediate’s Gymnasium.
Hours are:
Friday, March 16 -     9:00 am - 7:00 pm
Saturday, March 17 - 9:00 am - 7:00 pm
Sunday, March 18 -    9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Mark your calendars and see you there!

WOS Monthly Meetings House Rules
Once the meeting has begun, we ask that you:
Please give your full attention to the president, officers, speakers and commentator’s.
If you need to talk to someone, please whisper to them, wait for a break or ask them to go outside with you to talk.
Please refrain from approaching the refreshment table until the president calls for a break, as the refreshment committee is busy setting up.
Plant give away is only done at the end of the meeting, please refrain from taking or asking for them during the meeting.  We want to ensure that everyone that attends gets one.
When the invited speaker and plant commentator is speaking, we ask that you be courteous, as members want to be able to hear them, especially the new members.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

WOS Spring Show March 16th - 18th
“Go Green With Orchids”

Important Dates to Remember – Questions contact Larry Kamiya– 235-3290
Wednesday, March 14, 2012 starting at 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
We will need help in setting up the gym. We need help taping down the mat to the gym floor, setting up the sellers and display tables, setting up the display area.
Wednesday Nite:  starting at 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
We will need help making boxes, crushing newspaper, and continue to set up.  Bring any boxes you collected, etc...If you have plants to bring, you may bring them that evening.
Thursday, March 15, 2012 starting at 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
We will need your help setting up our display for the show and getting ready for the first day of our show. 
Friday, March 16, 2012 to Sunday, March 18, 2012

We need everyone’s help to make our show a success!! Please sign up to volunteer for the various committees listed below. We also will need everyone's help on Sunday starting from 3:00 pm when the sellers start to dismantle their tables, then at 4:00 when our show ends and we break down and sweep and mop the gym.
Sign-up sheets will be available at the General Membership Meeting.

Make sure you mark your calendars and sign-up to help the Society!  It takes a team effort to make our WOS Show a success.  We are shooting for 100% WOS member participation (whether you can volunteer 1 hour of your time or 50 hours), this would be the first time in the history of the Windward Orchid Society!!!
